Athens is a riddle – Athens’ branding up until now.

A city is a riddle we get the chance to solve when looking carefully. Athens is a riddle. In this presentation we will get to explore the city’s branding up until now and check out what creative is happening in Athens today.

 After shortly presenting Athens’ branding before, during and after  the milestone of the Olympic games (2004), we will focus on the interesting pieces of the puzzle that build Athens’ image today. And believe me when I’m saying, Athens is much more than Acropolis and its past. Its present seems to create a colorful canvas that shows us that despite the economical crisis, Athenians are here and in action!

So, what’s interesting now? Well, let’s see…

The free press phenomenon (Lifo and Athens Voice), art on the road, festivals (music, theater, cinema, book), social start-ups (like Swap Not Shop or Glovo), entrepreneurship start-ups (like zero fund, taxibeat  or openfund), hubs hosting cultural events (like six d.o.g.s. or taf), co-working spaces (like loft2work, Ludens Labs, Synergy Project or Thinking Lab), the Visual  Intervention Program, Atenistas, the redevelopment projects (Re-launch Athens or Rethink Athens) and much  more are here, waiting for us to connect the dots and watch a different image of the city emerge.

Last but not least, where stands Athens in international indexes concerning innovation, ease of doing business, European green cities and brand strength? The answers are not what you would probably expect…

 So, get on board, think outside of the box and let the journey begin!
